Camp Concludes. The Journey Continues.


As the 2026 Batch B Stream I NYSC Orientation Course comes to a close after twenty-one memorable days, WhatNext Africa warmly congratulates all corps members on the successful completion of this important phase of their national service journey.

For many, the orientation camp has been more than a temporary gathering place. It has been a space of adaptation, discovery, friendship, discipline, resilience, teamwork, and growth. It marks an important transition point in the journey from student life into broader citizenship, professional engagement, and greater responsibility.

We commend the dedication, enthusiasm, and commitment demonstrated by corps members throughout the orientation period. We also acknowledge the invaluable contributions of the NYSC management, camp officials, facilitators, security personnel, healthcare workers, support staff, host communities, and all stakeholders whose efforts have helped make the Orientation Course a safe, impactful, and memorable experience.

As you proceed to your respective Places of Primary Assignment and host communities, remember that national service extends far beyond the camp gates. It is an opportunity to learn deeply, contribute meaningfully, lead responsibly, build enduring relationships, explore new pathways, and discover dimensions of your potential that may not yet be fully known to you.

The communities you are about to enter are filled with possibilities. They offer opportunities to serve, to innovate, to connect across cultures, and to leave positive footprints in the lives of others. Approach this next phase with curiosity, humility, excellence, and a willingness to grow.

We also encourage you to look beyond your assigned responsibilities and intentionally pay attention to the students, school leavers, and young people around you. In many communities, there are young Nigerians standing at critical crossroads, seeking direction, encouragement, exposure, and guidance.

Be more than corps members. Become mentors, encouragers, role models, and trusted companions. Be the "big brothers and sisters" who inspire confidence, broaden horizons, and help younger Nigerians imagine greater possibilities for themselves. Sometimes, a conversation, a recommendation, a shared experience, an introduction, or a simple word of encouragement can alter the trajectory of a young person's life.

Service to the nation is also service to the next generation.

As this chapter begins, we urge you to serve with integrity, learn intentionally, build meaningful connections, invest in others, and prepare thoughtfully for life beyond NYSC. May your service year become a season of impact, discovery, purpose, and lasting growth.

Congratulations once again to the 2026 Batch B Stream I corps members. We wish you safe journeys, rewarding experiences, and fulfilling service in your host communities.

Abuja, Nigeria - October 2025. As part of its ongoing Stakeholders Engagement on the WhatNext Calendar for the 2025/2026 School Year, WhatNext Africa, led by its Programme Director, Temitope S. Ogunnusi, participated in the 46th Plenary of the Unity Schools Old Students Association (USOSA) held in Abuja. The engagement underscores WhatNext Africa’s mission to work collaboratively with education and alumni stakeholders to help young Nigerians make informed transitions from school to life, work, and nation-building.
