Remain Teachable
Dear WNASS-P Community,
Good morning!
It is another weekend.
Another opportunity to pause briefly, reflect deeply, renew intentionally, and prepare for the week ahead.
Across our schools, communities, examination halls, workplaces, and transition journeys, one reality continues to quietly reveal itself:
The people who continue growing are usually the people who continue learning.
Not only academically.
But emotionally. Professionally. Socially. Spiritually. And through life itself.
Yes
This weekend, we reflect on a timeless reminder:
“Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.” - Mahatma Gandhi
This observation feels especially important for the current season many people within our community are navigating.
WAEC examinations continue.
UTME candidates are processing results, admission realities, and future decisions.
Corps members recently deployed to their Places of Primary Assignment (PPA) are adjusting to unfamiliar environments, responsibilities, and expectations.
Another batch of corps members are concluding National Service and reflecting on lessons learned from the journey.
At the same time, schools remain fully active as students, teachers, and facilitators continue the learning process for the term.
And within all these transitions, one quality remains critically important:
Teachability.
Understanding Teachability
Teachability is more than intelligence.
It is the willingness to:
- learn,
- adapt,
- listen,
- reflect,
- improve,
- and grow continuously.
Some people stop learning once they leave the classroom.
Others continue learning from:
- experiences,
- responsibilities,
- mistakes,
- feedback,
- relationships,
- transitions,
- and observation.
Those are often the people who continue growing over time.
For students, this season teaches discipline, preparation, emotional control, and endurance.
For corps members, service year realities teach adaptability, maturity, communication, and responsibility.
For facilitators, each classroom interaction teaches patience, leadership, listening, and influence.
And for all of us, life itself continues to teach lessons daily.
But one challenge quietly appears during demanding seasons:
People sometimes become resistant to growth.
Pressure can make people defensive. Fatigue can make people careless. Routine can make people mentally passive.
Yet growth often belongs to those who remain humble enough to keep learning.
Three Reminders This Weekend
1️⃣ Stay Open to Learning
Every season carries lessons.
Do not become too proud, too tired, or too distracted to notice them.
2️⃣ Reflect on Experience
Not every lesson comes from formal teaching.
Sometimes life itself becomes the classroom.
Take time to ask: “What is this season trying to teach me?”
3️⃣ Keep Growing Quietly
Growth does not always look dramatic.
Sometimes it looks like:
- improved discipline,
- wiser decisions,
- calmer responses,
- better habits,
- and deeper understanding.
Quiet growth is still growth.
Private Reflection
Take a quiet moment this weekend and consider:
- What has this current season been teaching me?
- Am I remaining open to growth, correction, and learning?
- What habits or attitudes may be limiting my growth presently?
- How can I become more intentional about continuous learning and self-renewal?
No submission is required.
This reflection is simply an invitation to remain teachable through every stage of life and transition.
Some people experience life.
Others learn from life.
And over time, the difference becomes visible.
As we prepare for another week, may we remain:
- humble enough to learn,
- wise enough to reflect,
- disciplined enough to improve,
- and steady enough to continue growing.
Together, we continue the work of raising a worthy successor generation.
